Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has the opportunity to make Billboard Hot 100 history. It’s #1 for an 18th week. If it holds strong for one more week, it’ll tie to become the second longest-leading single. Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus are currently tied at 19 weeks. Mariah Carey has the longest-leading single with “All I Want for Christmas Is You” with 22 weeks. Speaking of Ella’s hit, remember how Matthew McConaughey performed a cover on “The Tonight Show”? Well, at her show in Fort Worth on Saturday, she opened her performance of the song by playing the clip of his cover. Even Drake is a fan. He commented on Ella’s recent post of photos from Texas and said, quote, “Goated Pen.”
Riley Green got a pair of underwear thrown at him onstage on Saturday night. He used a drumstick to pick them up and hang them on his bandmate’s microphone. In the clip of the moment, Riley also said, quote, “Ma’am, you dropped those.”
Pat McAfee released his debut album on Friday called “The Diary of a Polarizing Figure” . . . and it’s something. Even his fans are roasting his song “Blue Collar Symphony”. Here are some of the responses: One person said, “Don’t listen to the haters Pat, this [crap] is worse than what they even say.” Another said, “Love the show Pat but not enough people are telling you no.”
Lauren Alaina brought out her one-year-old daughter Beni onstage during her performance of “Doin’ Fine” on Saturday at the Back Road Music Festival. She told the crowd, quote, “Everybody say hello to my little girl.”
Matchbox Twenty singer Rob Thomas accidentally hit his guitarist Paul Doucette in the head with his mic stand on Sunday. It smashed Paul’s in-ear monitor and he had to get the pieces tweezed out of his ear.
