Lainey Wilson and Devlin “Duck” Hodges said “I do.” They got married last Sunday, May 10th, at The Ruskin in Dickson, Tennessee. The ceremony took place on a cobblestone ledge at the foot of a waterfall. Lainey arrived in a white horse-drawn carriage. Her friend and mentor Wes Williams was the officiant. The reception was inside a cave. Since she’s from Louisiana, she added Cajun flair. There was a 12-piece jazz band called Rebirth and a Cajun meal from the chefs at her bar, Bell Bottoms Up. Her wedding dress had Japanese cherry blossoms around the neckline. She says, “The cherry blossom represents living in the moment, and that’s exactly what we did.” She also had a wildflower bouquet. Duck wore a mallard green suit with gold duck bolo tie. Their famous guests included Luke Bryan, Ella Langley, Wynonna Judd, Jelly Roll, Miranda Lambert, and Lauren Alaina. Their first dance was to “10-90” by Muscadine Bloodline. They served Whataburger as a late-night snack for guests.
Eric Church delivered the commencement address at the University of North Carolina last weekend. He compared each string on his guitar to a pillar in life. “When all six are in tune, the chords they make can stop a conversation cold, carry a broken person through the worst night of their life, or make a roomful of strangers feel for three minutes like they’ve known each other forever. “If one is off, the whole chord unravels . . . I believe your life runs on this principle.” Eric also talked about not comparing yourself to others online. He ended the speech with singing his song “Carolina”. Eric was born and raised in North Carolina.
