Alan Jackson is officially retired. Saturday night’s “Last Call: One More for the Road” was a four-hour show with tribute performances and a full set from Alan. Here are the biggest moments of the night:
- Fans briefly had to evacuate Nissan Stadium as lightning storms moved through the area.
- Carrie Underwood shared a full-circle moment from seeing Alan in concert in 1994 and having the honor to pay tribute to him. She sang “Everything I Love”.
- Eric Church performed “Someday” with just his guitar, and no backing band.
- Taylor Swift sent in a recorded video message, but it was met with a mixed response from the audience.
- Ella Langley, Reba McEntire, and Rusty Wallace sent in video messages, too.
- Alan took a moment to celebrate his family and sang “I’d Love You All Over Again” with his wife and daughters in the audience.
- He also gave a bittersweet performance of “Remember When”.
- Alan reminded the crowd that he’s still alive. Quote, “We’re not gonna dwell on all this sad ‘last show’ stuff. I’m not dead!”
- George Strait joined Alan onstage to perform “Designated Drinker” and “Murder on Music Row” together.
- Alan’s final song of the night was “Where I Come From”, with a patriotic firework display.
Riley Green made a surprise appearance at his midtown Nashville bar, Losers Bar and Grill Saturday night. He was joined by Kevin James, and they performed “Don’t Mind If I Do”.
Shania Twain almost suffered a wardrobe malfunction Friday night while opening for Harry Styles. She wore a sheer black outfit with skin-tone spanx underneath, but there wasn’t a lot of coverage on her bottom. When she squatted down while performing “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”, everyone around her got a very exposed view. In other Shania news, she released the title track of her upcoming album, “Little Miss Twain”, featuring Tanya Tucker.
Kane Brown says he feels alone in the music world, and just wants a friend in the industry. He’s friends with Patrick Mahomes and says he relates more to athletes because at one time he wanted to be one. “Pat’s a cool dude, and he’s normal, and that’s another thing that I also love, because a lot of people have egos, I shut down around that. For me, Pat just makes a normal hangout.” Kane does have artists he texts, quote, “I’ve always been a loner, so I’m used to it. Morgan [Wallen], he’d probably text me the most. Shaboozey, Chris Young . . . [Jason] Aldean has been my guy.”
Michael J. Fox is now a Companion of the Order of Canada . . . which is his native country’s highest civilian honor. He was awarded for both his Hollywood career and his advocacy for Parkinson’s disease.
A script for a “St. Elmo’s Fire” sequel is in the works. Rob Lowe says everyone wants to do it, and they’re just working on getting the script right.
Jonah Hill and Kristen Wiig made a comedy together. It’s called “Cut Off”, and it’s awaiting a release date. One source claims it’s, quote, “unreleasable”. But Jonah’s rep says it’s just “not ready,” and a date will be announced soon.
Warner Brothers is turning “Dark Shadows”, the gothic soap opera from the 1960s, into an animated series.
Colin Jost is 44. “SNL” Weekend Update anchor.
Lily Rabe is 44. “American Horror Story” star who plays Meg on “Shrinking”.
