- Jamey Johnson: He was on Fox’s “Nashville” in 2007.
- Riley Green: He won the fifth season of “Redneck Island”.
- Michael Ray: He won “The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep”.
- Sawyer Brown: They won “Star Search” in 1983.
- Chuck Wicks: He was on Fox’s “Nashville” in 2007.
- Justin Timberlake: He went country on “Star Search” in 1992.
Cody Johnson doesn’t like to be compared to George Strait. He explained why when he opened for George at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium on Saturday. “I have an issue with the fact that people say, ‘Oh, you’re the next George Strait.’ When I get 62 #1 singles on the Billboard charts, we can talk. There will only ever be one King of country music and he’s here tonight.”
Jelly Roll just finished a taping of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Monday when he went out of his way to meet with a disabled fan and his mom. Jelly said, quote, “You don’t know how much this means to me. You don’t know how much I need this. I’m glad I got to come say hi.” When the mom shared that they have tickets to see him Friday, Jelly told her that they’ll roll out the red carpet for them. Quote, “We’ll bring you all backstage and meet everybody, okay? We’ll party Friday . . .”Making my soul smile man . . . it almost brings a tear to my eye.”
Darius Rucker’s cover of “Wagon Wheel” surpassed one billion streams on Spotify. It’s now the 15th country song to join the Billions Club. In case you’re wondering, there are over 1,200 songs that have hit this milestone.
