Country music legend David Allan Coe passed away yesterday evening at age 86. He was part of the outlaw country scene in the ’70s, and had his share of controversy over the years, like the use of slurs in some of his songs. Some of his hits you might know include “The Ride”, “Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile”, and “You Never Even Called Me By My Name”. He also wrote Johnny Paycheck’s hit, “Take This Job and Shove It”. The cause of death hasn’t been confirmed, but he was in an intensive care unit.
Kacey Musgraves says there very much was beef with Miranda Lambert and it was, “grass-fed, grade A.” But that’s over. And now they have a song together called “Horses and Divorces”. It’s on Kacey’s new album, “Middle of Nowhere”, that’s out tomorrow. Kacey says, “I love this song, because it’s not coming from some contrived place in a writing room. We’ve come together after years of really, honestly, not being friends. “I had this idea one day when I saw her on Instagram, riding one of her horses, and I thought, ‘Well, I guess we have two things in common: horses and divorces.’ And I was like, ‘Wait, that’s a song.'” Kacey also announced the album’s tour, which kicks off in August. She says, “I want it to feel like you’re walking into an outdoor rodeo when you’re in there. There’s gonna be dirt, and it’ll feel like you’re outside.” She has a few album release shows next week in Texas. She’ll be joined by the Mariachi Brothers, after previously advocating for their release when they were detained by ICE.

- The child molestation allegations. The movie WAS going to address the Jordan Chandler situation of the early ’90s . . . painting Michael as the innocent victim of a shakedown. That was supposedly cut for legal reasons.
- Michael’s sexuality. We spent so much time pondering over it, while the movie spends NONE.
- The movie seems to suggest his only friends were his animals. But he socialized with plenty of stars, including Diana Ross, Brooke Shields, Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando, Emmanuel Lewis, and more.
- The family’s religion was a big part of why Michael felt he never had a childhood. It’s also why there’s a disclaimer on the “Thriller” video saying it doesn’t endorse the occult.
- Michael didn’t almost die after his hair caught in fire. In reality, he was released from the hospital a day after that ill-fated Pepsi commercial. And he attended the Grammys a month later.
- Brother Randy and sisters Janet and Rebbie were just excised from Michael’s life. In Janet’s case, she actually DECLINED to be part of the film. But why’d the other two get axed?
- Michael and Paul McCartney had two #1 hits together, “The Girl Is Mine” and “Say Say Say”. But they famously had a falling out when Michael bought the Beatles music catalog out from under him.
