The ACM Awards were last night. Here are some of the best moments:
- Shania Twain did a great job as a first-time host. She kept it moving and seemed genuinely happy to be there.
- Lainey Wilson kicked off the show by performing her new single, “Can’t Sit Still”.
- The Red Clay Strays performed “Demons in Your Choir” with a full gospel choir . . . and it was awesome.
- Tucker Wetmore performed his song “Brunette” in a very tight outfit . . . and Shania had his mom introduce him.
- Someone actually beat Chris Stapleton for Male Artist of the Year. Congrats to Cody Johnson! (Video)
- Kacey Musgraves started her song “Dry Spell” on a laundry machine.
- Blake Shelton closed the show out singing Kenny Rogers’ famous song “The Gambler”.
- When Ella Langley won Female Artist of the Yea, she was emotional and thanked all the women in country music for being so good to her.
Kiefer Sutherland just announced he’s cancelling the U.S. leg of his country tour due to low ticket sales. Here’s what he said, “I don’t think it’s fair to the people who have bought tickets, or the venues, to play to half empty houses. I look forward to touring the United States again at a more suitable time. I hope you understand.”
With the ACMs taking place last night—– Remember that time Alan Jackson basically gave the ACMs the middle finger? The year was 1994, and the Academy wanted Alan to perform his song with a backing track. Well Alan is old school, and he hated that idea. But he was contractually obligated, so his way of protesting was sending out his drummer to play the song WITH NO DRUMSTICKS. The drummer was just flailing away up there, no drumsticks, playing the best pre-recorded song of his life.
Kim Kardashian paid $500,000 bail for a man who’s been on death row for almost 30 years, and is awaiting a retrial for first-degree murder.
Tom Brady made his runway debut at a Gucci fashion show in Times Square.
