Dolly Parton canceled her Las Vegas residency because of health concerns. She said in an update that she’s responding well to meds and treatments, but it makes her too “swimmy-headed”, “I have great doctors and I’m doing really well, and they assure me that everything I have is treatable, so I’m going with that. I’ve told you before that I’ve always had problems with my kidney stones. “Lord, they dig more stones out of me a year than the rock quarry in Rockwood, Tennessee.” Dolly also said her doctors are trying to strengthen her immune and digestive systems. She compared herself to a classic car that’s being restored. She’s been keeping busy though and is still recording music., “I’m working hard on getting my museum and my hotel open in Nashville later this year. And I am spending a lot of time writing and reworking on my Broadway musical. It’s called ‘Dolly, a True Original Musical’.”
Ella Langley and Morgan Wallen’s duet, “I Can’t Love You Anymore”, is the first song by two country artists in “lead roles” to debut in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 since Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton did it over 40 years ago with “Islands in the Stream”. There have been other country duets in the Top 10, but those were technically “features”, like “I Remember Everything” by Zach Bryan FEATURING Kacey Musgraves.
Miranda Lambert released a teaser for her next single that mixes country and DISCO. It’s called “Crisco”, yes like the kind you cook with, and it comes out May 15th.
Kacey Musgraves dressed up as an armadillo to shop for her new album, “Middle of Nowhere”, in Walmart, Barnes & Noble, and Target. When she asked a worker in Walmart if they had her new album, the worker responded, quote, “I don’t recognize that name” . . . but held her phone like she was filming? Kacey even laid down in the middle of a road and played dead.
