Is Kenny Chesney’s 2005 hit “Beer in Mexico” part of your tailgate party playlist? After all this time, Kenny finally revealed that it’s not actually a party song and is a bit more introspective than you’d think. He wrote it when he was 36, while out in Cabo San Lucas for Sammy Hagar’s birthday. Kenny said he was looking at how all his friends and people he worked with had families and kids, except for him. “Here I was, 36 years old, I didn’t have that stuff. But I was building what I was building. And so I went, ‘Wow, maybe I don’t have to figure it all out right now. It’s okay enough to be playing Sammy’s birthday party.’ “I don’t have to figure out all of that stuff out at the moment. I thank Sammy for that. That was a true, autobiographical song.”
David Allan Coe fans have new material to look forward to. His longtime manager, Ken Madson, owns it and wants to release it on September 6th, which would’ve been David’s 87th birthday. The album was recorded in 2017, but got shelved by record executives. Madson says the final album will include previously unreleased songs and new material. He also shared that Johnny Knoxville began a documentary about David back in 2018, but it’s up to Johnny if it’ll ever be released.
