Despite facing challenges as a female and Black artist in a predominantly white, male industry, Guyton has continued to make her mark with her powerful performances and impactful songwriting. Her ability to command attention was evident when she wowed Sheryl Crow during the recent network special celebrating Ringo Starr at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, where she performed his ballad, “You Don’t Know Me at All.” “She was unbelievable,” Crow says of Guyton’s performance. “You could feel the whole room change when she sang.” Guyton continues to be a beacon for women and people of color, as she strives to broaden the scope and inclusivity in the music industry. Despite resistance from country radio, Guyton has found success in national TV appearances and has courageously addressed social issues through her music.
