On Friday (May 23), Lainey Wilson released her new single, “Somewhere Over Laredo,” an emotional tribute to Judy Garland‘s iconic “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz. The track was written by Wilson along with Trannie Anderson, Dallas Wilson, and Andy Albert. “I’ve always been inspired by putting myself into other peoples’ shoes and telling stories from others’ perspective,” Wilson wrote on Instagram. “But I’ve found a new creative avenue with this one putting myself back into a pair of shoes that I wore years ago.” Wilson debuted the song at the American Music Awards on Monday (May 26), where she was nominated for Favorite Female Country Artist alongside Beyoncé, Ella Langley, Kacey Musgraves, and Megan Moroney. Wilson just wrapped up the European leg of her Whirlwind Tour, and will hit the summer music festival circuit across North America alongside a series of headlining shows that concludes in Orlando on November 8.
