Dustin Lynch fulfilled a lifelong dream with his debut performance at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre on April 16. Four songs into his set, the country star paid tribute to his musical roots by covering Incubus’ 1999 hit, “Drive,” alongside his former bandmates. “We’re going to play a song by the band that inspired us to pick up instruments and write our own music to look cool in high school,” Lynch said. “It’s an honor to play this here.” Before the show, Lynch revealed to People that his old band would watch the DVD of Incubus’ 2004 concert, Alive at Red Rocks, while imagining playing the legendary venue themselves one day. The show, which had been postponed due to snow back in November, also raised funds for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation. Lynch’s parents were in the crowd, and he dedicated a cover of Bill Withers‘ 1977 track “Lovely Day” to them, while also paying tribute to his grandparents, whose love story inspired his 2012 debut song, “Cowboys and Angels.” (People)
