During a recent interview with E! News, Dolly Parton disclosed that she has been approached on multiple occasions to serve as a judge on American Idol and The Voice. But the country legend says that she has declined these opportunities due to her reluctance to critique aspiring singers. “I’ve been asked to do that a lot of times,” the 79-year-old singer revealed. “It’s too hard for me. That’s why I don’t accept it, because I know how sincere everybody is. Even if they’re not that good, they believe they are. And I just can’t hurt people.” Although she has served as a guest mentor on both American Idol and The Voice in the past, Parton is currently focused on an upcoming Broadway musical based on her life and career, as well as celebrating the 40th anniversary of her Tennessee-based theme park, Dollywood. “I’m just very proud of all of it, because I’ve seen it grow,” Parton says of Dollywood. “It’s an amazing park and it’s catered to families. I think I’m as proud of that as anything, that people want to come back.” (E! Online)
