In a new interview with People, Dierks Bentley shared his excitement surrounding the release of his 11th studio album, Broken Branches, due out on June 13. The country star attributes the title of the project to the diverse music community in Nashville. “Everyone in Nashville is kind of a broken branch off the family tree,” the 49-year-old Bentley says. “Everyone has moved from somewhere to be here and chase this crazy country music dream. So, the musicianship of this record really draws from all the different types of players that are here in town, from country to bluegrass.” Bentley listened to nearly 4,000 songs before selecting seven for the album, in addition to the four he co-wrote, with the record featuring collaborations with celebrated country artists like John Anderson, Riley Green and Miranda Lambert. “I’m always looking for [songs] that are kind of the broken branches of music,” Bentley says, including his new single, “Standing in the Sun,” which was released on Friday (May 9).
