Taylor Swift was announced yesterday as the youngest inductee ever to join the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. She’s 36. She was chosen for the Contemporary Songwriter/Artists category. She beat out fellow nominees Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, and Phil Vassar. Taylor says, “From the time I started writing songs as a child, I fixated on Nashville as the perfect place to be. I wanted to learn with and from the best and get to immerse myself in a community of storytellers . . .And thankfully Nashville turned out to be exactly what I’d dreamed of. A town that validated and prioritized hard work, determination and imagination . . . To be honored by this city I love so much is a beautiful thing, and I’m very grateful.”
Ella Langley stopped by Iggies Beach Bar at Bolongo Bay Resort while vacationing in St. Thomas with her friends. She joined the local band and gave a surprise performance of “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley and the Wailers. The resort posted a clip and said, quote, “This actually happened! Thank you to Ella & her super wonderful friends for stopping by Iggies and spreading the love and good vibes with us on one of their last evenings in St. Thomas. “Imagine our joy and gratitude when she spontaneously started singing a duet with our beloved local band, Reggae Dynasty! Such a special, fun night for everyone. This is what Iggies is all about!”
Sugarland is back! They announced a tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their second album, “Enjoy the Ride”. Jennifer Nettles says, “Enjoy the Ride was such a turning point album. Alan Jackson was honored at his last show with a plaque by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling over 85.5 million units in the U.S. throughout his career. He’s now one of the Top 10 highest-selling country artists. He also picked up 28 new RIAA certifications, including “Chattahoochee” going 5x Platinum, “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” going 5x Platinum, and “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” going Platinum. His plaque is on display at the Alan Jackson Museum.
The Rock released a song dedicated to his daughters called “Your Dad”. He wants to explore a music career and make old-school soul with some country flavor.
A couple was getting ready to start their wedding ceremony next to a river when they noticed Shaboozey was among a group of people floating by on inner tubes. When the couple asked to take a photo with them, he said, quote, “Yes! But I’m not getting off the float!”
