Dolly Parton announced yesterday that “Dolly: A True Original Musical” will officially open on Broadway in New York City on her 81st birthday, which is January 19th. Previews will start in December. The musical premiered last summer in Nashville, and has since undergone changes. It tells Dolly’s story in her own words and songs. Dolly says, “This isn’t about a story about sparkle and shine on the outside. It’s about where I really come from, what I’ve lived, what I’ve lost, what I’ve loved, and how I’ve found my way, and told it in my own words.” She also teased that she’s writing new songs for the musical. It’ll also include her hits like “I Will Always Love You”, “Jolene”, and “9 to 5”. Tickets go on sale today.
The countdown clock on Garth Brooks’ website ran out yesterday, and he announced the “Blame It All on My Roots” Arena Tour. He’s bringing back the drum pod that started it all 30 years ago. Garth says, “Going back into the arenas is about putting the stadium show in a box. The excitement gets multiplied by the intimacy. Every seat is a great seat. This is personal.” He’s only announced one city so far. The tour kicks off in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 21st.
Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn recently visited a hospital while on tour with Morgan Wallen. He thought he injured his vocal cords, but it turned out to be bronchitis. He joked about it and said he was told to hydrate. Quote, “I’ve been drinking stuff all day, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to pee my pants onstage.”
69 year old Katie Couric said June 27, 2026, began like any other as she walked to the farmer’s market in Aspen to pick up an iced coffee – bought some peaches and nectarines, a big bag of kettle corn and a cute straw hat. She headed back, ate a bowl of cereal with one of the peaches, and got dressed for an afternoon at the Aspen Ideas Festival where she was scheduled to speak at two panels. When her husband, financier John Molner, returned home from the gym, the two drove to the campus of the Aspen Institute, where Kataie was excited to hit the hot dog stand for lunch. “That’s the last thing I remember,” she revealed. As Molner recalled, his wife suddenly felt weak and dizzy and seemed “out of it,” so he brought her straight to Aspen Valley Hospital. During her initial examination, doctors quizzed her about the date and current president. And she couldn’t even remember the existence of her newborn granddaughter, Virginia. She introduced herself to the nurses every time they came into the room. An MRI ruled out a stroke. Further evaluation resulted in a diagnosis of transient global amnesia, “which means you lost your short term memory,” “It will return tomorrow. You are safe!” is what her doctor said.
