Megan Moroney’s third studio album “Cloud 9” just debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. It earned 147,000 equivalent album units in its first week. For comparison, Zach Bryan’s album “With Heaven on Top” opened at #1 back in January with 134,000 units. That means Megan is only one of five women country singers ever to have a #1 album on the Billboard 200. The others are Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, and Beyoncé. Fans are loving her duets “I Only Miss You” with Ed Sheeran and “Bells & Whistles” with Kacey Musgraves. And everyone’s still talking about her diss track, “Who Hurt You?”
Jelly Roll was celebrating one of the biggest nights of his career. And nobody knew he was seriously hurt. Jelly just revealed he flipped his ATV before the Grammy Awards and broke his collarbone in the crash. But instead of canceling appearances, he powered through the entire weekend. He said at the Grammys, every time someone hugged him, he wanted to “cry” because of the pain. His wife, Bunnie Xo, shared video from the hospital of Jelly in a neck brace, joking it gave him, “more street cred.”
Riley Green is adding actor to his resume. He has a role in the new “Yellowstone” spinoff “Marshals” alongside Luke Grimes. Riley plays Garrett, a former Navy SEAL who served with Luke’s character. Riley said, “Garrett is a former Navy SEAL . . . He’s troubled. He’s got some issues in what they went through together back in the day.” Riley admitted that acting made him nervous. He said, “I don’t get nervous to play shows anymore . . . but this was a brand-new thing for me. It was a big learning curve, I’m glad they were patient with me.” “Marshals” premiered Sunday on CBS. But Riley wasn’t in the first episode. According to some disappointed fans, it seems like Riley’s character will appear later in the season.
Country rules the charts this week. “Cloud 9” by Megan Moroney tops the Billboard 200, while Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” is the top track on the Hot 100.
Ella Langley is dominating country music right now, but she already has her eye on something new. She recently shared that she hopes to try acting one day. And she’s not aiming for a Western like some of her fellow country stars. Here’s what she said, “I really want to do a horror movie. That’s like one of my big goals . . . an old school horror movie, not like this stuff that you can’t put on and let your daddy walk through the room.” Music might be her thing right now . . . But don’t be surprised if you see Ella on the big screen someday.
