George Strait just went to the White House to pick up a big honor. President Trump awarded him with the 2025 Kennedy Center medal. The other honorees were Sylvester Stallone . . . Gloria Gaynor . . . Kiss . . . and Michael Crawford. Trump brought up George first and introduced him as a country music legend. And then there was a funny moment when George had to take off his cowboy hat so Trump could put the medal around his neck. When George took his hat off, Trump said, “Oh, he’s got good hair.” George laughed and said, “A little bit. I still got a little bit.”
Jon Pardi brought some comedy to the Big 12 Championship halftime show. The game was Texas Tech versus BYU . . . and BYU fans, who are mostly Mormon, definitely weren’t the crowd for a string of drinking songs. Two of the songs he chose are pro-booze . . . That’s “Heartache Medication” and “Dirt on My Boots”. But then he played “Head Over Boots” for all the lovers out there. Here are some lyrics from “Heartache Medication”: “Bartender knows my name, but I don’t mind . . . She kicks ’em up strong, serves me up right . . . And here I go again, I’m drinkin’ one, I’m drinkin’ two.”
Aerosmith and Yungblud just teamed up with Lainey Wilson to give their song “Wild Woman” some serious country flair. The track is part of their five song EP “One More Time” . . . and it’s the second tune to get a special guest version. Here’s what Yungblud said, “I’m really hyped to have Lainey Wilson jump on this record with us.” He added that he’s been a fan of hers for a long time and called her life story inspirational. He said they needed a female vocalist who could bring real authenticity to the track. Then he said, “We needed a wild woman and we for sure got one.”
Miley Cyrus just gave a reassuring update on her godmother Dolly Parton. If you haven’t heard, Dolly has had a few health challenges this year . . . and has stepped away from the limelight a bit. Miley said, “She’s always gonna keep the show going.” And then she said that Dolly’s excited to get back to work and living by that “show must go on” spirit. Earlier this fall, Dolly missed a Dollywood event and explained in a video that a kidney stone led to an infection and kept her off the road. She later had to postpone several Las Vegas shows, saying her doctors wanted her to have a few procedures. But Dolly has reassured fans she wasn’t quitting anything . . . she’s just slowing down so she can be ready for the next big adventure. A source close to her recently said Dolly is getting better every day.
