The Grammy nominees were announced on Friday, and Fabrice Morvan from Milli Vanilli is nominated – he wrote his memoir, and he narrated it….. “You Know It’s True: The Real Story of Milli Vanilli”. Kendrick Lamar leads all nominees with NINE. He’s followed by Lady Gaga with SEVEN, and Sabrina Carpenter and Bad Bunny with SIX each. Justin Bieber snagged four nominations, including Album of the Year for “Swag”. We are getting their first look at how the Recording Academy plans to handle its new country categories. They split the Best Country Album into two separate categories this year: Best Contemporary Country Album and Best Traditional Country Album. The new setup is meant to separate pop-country from the more traditional sound. . . . but fans are already questioning why artists like Miranda Lambert were placed under “Contemporary” instead of “Traditional” . . . Also, how were megastars like Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, and Megan Moroney totally shut out? The Grammys take place on February 1st in Los Angeles.
Morgan Wallen just made a surprise appearance at Ella Langley’s show at the Ryman Auditorium and fans were losing their minds. The Ryman is right off Broadway in Nashville, home of Morgan’s infamous chair-throwing adventure. And it’s also nearby to where the CMAs take place. But Morgan had jokes too. He said, “It takes a lot more than an awards show to get me out to Broadway these days.” Morgan was banned from the CMAs in 2021 . . . and then snubbed in 2023 despite dominating the charts. Of course, now he’s the reigning Entertainer of the Year at the CMAs, so he doesn’t need much validation. He’s the biggest name in country music right now, and the CMAs might need him more than he needs them.
Jelly Roll just wrapped up his first tour of Australia and New Zealand . . . but he was forced to cancel his final show because he was sick. Here’s what he said, ” I’ve done everything I can . . . I just can’t shake it. It breaks my heart, I’ve probably missed three shows in the last decade. I pride myself on showing up no matter what. Just couldn’t do it this time. Please forgive me.” It’s unlikely that Jelly will announce a makeup date anytime soon . . . because the show was in New Zealand. But hopefully Jelly can make it up to them at some point in the future.
