Clint Black reveals in a new interview with People that he got “emotional” when he found out that he has been named the 2025 BMI Icon Award recipient, an honor previously bestowed on legends like Toby Keith, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Dolly Parton. “It was pretty moving,” Black, 63, recalls about being told the exciting news from BMI executives. “Right off the bat, I knew something was happening here. Just the way they presented it was a big deal. It did make me emotional. It was a special moment.” This is yet another impressive accolade in Black’s celebrated music career, which features a Grammy Award, numerous CMA and ACM awards, 20 million record sales, over twenty gold and platinum certifications, and nearly two dozen No. 1 singles. The 73rd Annual BMI Country Awards ceremony is set to take place on November 18 at BMI’s Nashville office. (People)
