Trisha Yearwood steps into a new role as a songwriter with the July 18 release of her sixteenth studio album, The Mirror, which showcases her most personal songs yet. Despite lingering doubts about her songwriting abilities dating back to her college years at Nashville’s Belmont University, Yearwood turned to a primarily female collective of co-writers for creative encouragement – including Leslie Satcher, Maia Sharp, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Erin Enderlin, Bridgette Tatum ,Emma-Lee, and Sunny Sweeney – while she co-produced her album alongside Chad Carlson, who also served as co-writer on the record. Yearwood, a five-time Billboard Country Airplay chart-topper, created an album filled with soul-baring songs inspired by personal experiences, while marking a new chapter in her already prestigious career. With the support of her fellow songwriters and her husband, Garth Brooks, Yearwood overcame self-doubt and proved her talent as a songwriter, marking a significant evolution in her long musical journey. “I could now sing something even more personal than the songs I’ve sung in my career, but also, I can write these songs,” Yearwood says.
