Jennifer Lopez is in theaters for Valentine’s Weekend in a romantic comedy called “Marry Me”. It’s up against the Liam Neeson thriller “Blacklight”, and the Agatha Christie sequel “Death on the Nile”.
You can have your fantasies of all four Golden Girls reuniting and hugging and eating cheesecake in Heaven. But the truth is, that’s NOT happening. Because BEA ARTHUR and RUE MCCLANAHAN hated BETTY WHITE. A guy named Joel Thurm was the casting director on “The Golden Girls”, and on a recent podcast, he said, “The women hated her. He offered one example of what Betty did that upset her co-stars. When ESTELLE GETTY started having trouble with her memory due to dementia, Betty would make fun of her in front of the live audience. Thurm said, “That may seem like a minor transgression, but it really does get to you . . . I have no idea how Estelle Getty felt, but I know the other two did not like [Betty] at all.”
The ACM nominations were announced yesterday, and Chris Young scored big, picking up seven nods. He’s never won an ACM award, so unless something freezes over, he’s finally in. Similarly, Walker Hayes picked up his first-ever ACM nominations. He’s up for five awards, and so is Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton. And the Morgan Wallen freeze is officially over. He got four nominations, including Best Album for “Dangerous”. There’s a 40% chance for a female Entertainer of the Year. Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood are up against Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, and Luke Combs. Who got snubbed? Billboard says Mickey Guyton, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, and Blake Shelton. The Boot would like to add Cody Johnson to that list.
LUKE BRYAN’s Vegas residency at Resorts World starts tonight. He’ll be hosting a Super Bowl party in the hotel on Sunday . . . and then after the game he’ll fly to Hawaii so he can do “American Idol”.
CHARLES KELLEY thinks the “Georgia momentum” will help the Rams win the Super Bowl. In the past few months, the Atlanta Braves won the World Series, and the Georgia Bulldogs won the college football championship. He says, “Dave [Haywood] and I are Georgia boys, and [Rams QB] Matthew Stafford was quarterback at Georgia. It feels like it’s just kind of in the energy.”
WILLIE NELSON’s next album is called “A Beautiful Time”, and it’ll be out April 29th, which also happens to be his 89th birthday. It features a song called, “I’ll Love You Till the Day I Die”, which was written by Rodney Crowell and Chris Stapleton. Willie co-wrote five of the other tracks.
In a recent interview JIMMIE ALLEN talked about the time he had a few words for some jerk who said his wife Alexis was only with him for the money. “I looked at the dude and said ‘Well, first of all . . . if you think she’s with me for the money, she’d never be with you. Two, she’s not, because she had her own money . . . like, her parents are loaded.”
RONNIE DUNN has formed a new publishing company, called Perfect Pitch Publishing. He says he’s a mentor and coach who will help guide the songwriters . . . whether they like it or not.
ALAN JACKSON and his wife Denise are solid as a rock. “We got a lot of history together now, and we’re happier than we’ve ever been.” The couple celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary in December.
Bob Saget had Covid-19 but died as a result of “blunt head trauma”. The Chief Medical Examiner said, “It is in my opinion that the death of Robert Saget, a 65-year-old white male found unresponsive in a hotel room, is the result of blunt head trauma. It is the most probable that he suffered an unwitnessed fall backwards and struck the posterior aspect of his head. The manner of death is accident”. The report noted that a PCR test showed that Saget, 65, was also positive for Covid-19. Saget, who died in his Orlando, Florida hotel room last month, had said in December that he had Covid-19, and PCR tests can return positive results for weeks after recovery. The autopsy also noted he had an enlarged heart; 95% blocked on one side. No alcohol was present in his system, however, his systems contained a medication which is taken for seizures, panic disorders and anxiety. Additionally, the antidepressant Trazodone was found in Saget’s system
MATTHEW PERRY shared the cover and title of his autobiography, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing”. It comes out in the fall.
SIMON COWELL tested positive for COVID.
Anderson Cooper is a dad again! He announced the birth of his second son, Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper, on-air Thursday night. Cooper’s has 21-month-old son Wyatt Morgan. Cooper co-parents Wyatt with ex Benjamin Maisani, and Sebastian has also been given Maisani’s name. The couple split in 2018.
SoFi Stadium is blasting rock music outside, so people can’t hear rehearsals for the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
