Watch Kacey Musgraves and Ruston Kelly Sample New Song From Johnny Cash Tribute Album

A number of artists—including Brad Paisley, Jamey Johnson, Jewel, T Bone Burnett, Dailey & Vincent, Chris Cornell, Kacey Musgraves and Ruston Kelly—are contributing vocals to a new Johnny Cash tribute album, Johnny Cash Forever Words: The Music.

The aforementioned artists will add their vocals to poems that Johnny penned over the years. A book of Johnny’s poems, Forever Words: The Unknown Poems, was published in 2016.

Kacey and fiancé Ruston sampled their duet, “To June, This Morning,” at Blackberry Farm in East Tennessee on July 9. Johnny wrote the poem for his wife, June Carter Cash, in 1970.

Kacey posted the performance on Instagram with the caption: “Last night @rustonkelly + I sang “To June, This Morning” – an actual poem Johnny Cash wrote in 1970 that we put to music. (It’ll be on the upcoming ‘Forever Words’ project that will feature many different amazing artists).”
