Luke Combs just notched another major milestone, earning his 19th #1 song on “Billboard’s” Country Airplay chart with “Back in the Saddle”. This continues one of the most dominant streaks in modern country history. This also marks his 18th #1 as a co-writer. His cover of “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman is his only #1 he didn’t write himself. “Back in the Saddle”is expected to appear on Luke’s sixth studio album . . . which is due sometime early next year.
Keith Urban just wrapped his High and Alive Tour . . . and received a very special birthday present that actually brought him to tears. It was given to him by one of Keith’s openers, Chase Matthew. He presented Keith with a custom guitar titled “The Rise of the Phoenix.” It was a Māori-inspired piece designed by artist Sam Mangakahia, who’s also created guitars for Post Malone and Jelly Roll.Sam described the design’s meaning in a video, and Keith had to wipe away tears. It was a special moment, considering all he’s been through lately. I’m sure Keith has a million guitars, but this one’s pretty special.
Riley Green is getting to be one of the bigger names in country music. He was doing a panel at the Grammy Museum . . . and was asked, “Who’s your dream duet partner?” And he said, “Just, you know, The King, George Strait, I guess that’d be pretty good. Or I’d settle for Alan Jackson if I had to.” Then the moderator asked why it hasn’t happened yet, and Riley said, “I think the problem is, has HE thought about it? You know what I mean? I’ve thought about it a lot. When he starts thinking about it, that’s when it’ll happen.”
