The new movie “Americana” opened this weekend starring Sydney Sweeney . . . about a young woman trying to become the next big country star. And they created throwback posters inspired by iconic country albums. Some of the reimagined covers:
- Sydney recreated Dolly Parton’s famous 1974 “Jolene” album cover.
- Halsey channeled Johnny Cash, by recreating the artwork from his 2005 compilation “The Legend of Johnny Cash”.
“Sesame Street” just made a stop in Nashville to help the Grand Ole Opry celebrate its 100th anniversary. Elmo and Abby Cadabby both made their Opry stage debuts, and the crowd loved it. Lauren Alaina had the privilege of introducing Elmo. And one of his first lines was, “You like Elmo’s bolo tie?” Elmo and Lauren then sang her song “Road Less Traveled”. It was Lauren’s first Opry appearance since giving birth to her daughter in June.
Morgan Wallen surprised his Cleveland crowd this weekend by bringing out Kid Rock. But the biggest buzz of the night came from a simple hand gesture. Morgan pointed to his wrist like he was checking the time, then raised his fist to the sky. Browns fans instantly knew what it meant . . . a nod to rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Who’s the son of NFL royalty, Deion Sanders. Shedeur’s signature move is more of a hard slap to the wrist, but Wallen’s version was close enough to get the message across. And now we know who Morgan’s rooting for.
Riley Green was on “The Pat McAfee Show” the other day and they started talking about how athletic Riley is. So naturally he wanted to show off a bit. Riley then took a basketball and dunked, impressing Pat and his whole crew. The only problem is when Riley came down, he tweaked his ankle and instantly started to limp. It’s hard to say if Riley was exaggerating the injury to make it seem like he’s old. Which is true, he’s 36 years old . . . and that’s no spring chicken. But it was pretty awesome that he could dunk, even if he might have hurt himself in the process.
