Rick Moranis will return to once again play Dark Helmet in “Spaceballs 2”!!!  Bill Pullman will return as the hero Lone Starr, too. And Mel Brooks will be back as Yogurt . . . and, presumably . . . President Skroob.  (He played both characters in the original.)

Luke Combs wants to bring country music to the masses.  Because Luke was once one of those people himself. He said, “I’m passionate about country music and have a deep knowledge of its inner workings, but I’m also someone who ran as far away from country music as I could and hated it, for a decade, when I was 10 or 11 years old.” Luke Combs hated country music for a DECADE?  Luckily, he came back to us. He said, “I eventually rediscovered my love for country music and feel like, though the genre might not be for everyone, some parts of the genre could be for anyone.” So now he’s on a mission to destigmatize country music to those who give it a bad rap.  And he has a chance to do that this summer. He plays the Newport Folk Festival on July 28th. 

Joey Lawrence claims that Matt LeBlanc’s character on “Friends” was based in his character from “Blossom”, and Matt used to attend tapings of “Blossom” and take notes.

Thomas Rhett Akins, Jr. and his dad, Rhett Akins shared a really special moment onstage. Rhett Akins received the Non-Performing Songwriter Icon Award by the National Music Publishers’ Association, and Thomas was in the house to honor him with a song they wrote together. When Rhett got up to give his acceptance speech, he was overcome with emotion.  He said, “I never would have dreamed all the years we sat in the kitchen playing guitars and writing little dumb songs turned out to be this.”

The Grammys just announced a major change. For next year’s Grammys, the award formally known as Best Country Album will now be called Best Contemporary Country Album . . . and they will also be adding a new category:  Best Traditional Country Album. And one year after Beyoncé wins makes the timing of this all the more clickbait-y. According to the Grammy website, “traditional country music”, “adheres to the more traditional sound structures of the country genre, including rhythm and singing style, lyrical content, as well as traditional country instrumentation such as acoustic guitar, steel guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, piano, and live drums.” Where “contemporary country music”, “remains reminiscent and relevant to the legacy of country music’s culture, while also engaging in more contemporary music forms.”
