Morgan Wallen is on top of the country world. His new album “I’m the Problem” debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. And now his song, “What I Want”, with Tate McRae also debuted at #1. It’s worth noting that both of those are all-genre charts. On top of that, Morgan just had the biggest debut week of ANY artist in 2025. He sold 493,000 units.
The American Music Awards went down on Monday night, and country music represented itself well. Here are the biggest country stories from the AMAs:
1. Post Malone won Favorite Male Country Artist . . . and Favorite Country Song for “I Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen.
2. Beyoncé took home the awards for Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Country Album for “Cowboy Carter”.
3. Zac Brown was given the first-ever Veterans Voice Award. It’s meant to spotlight artists who have used their platforms to make meaningful, lasting impacts in the lives of veterans.
4. Dan + Shay won Favorite Country Duo.
5. And Lainey Wilson debuted her new song, “Somewhere Over Laredo” and it was great.
Tim McGraw had 3 back surgeries and double knee replacements in the last 6-8 months . . . I had a back surgery before tour last year. That sort of went south on me at the beginning of the [Standing Room Only Tour]. I had to finish the tour with my knees completely gone and my back gone . . . As soon as I got done, I had my knee surgeries done.” It didn’t stop there, though. Then in the process of recovering from my knee surgeries, my back went out again. I had to have another back surgery.” The good news is, Tim says he’s feeling better now . . .
Megan Moroney was performing this past weekend at the 2025 Boston Calling Festival, and she fell and slipped on her butt. It was raining, so she has a good excuse. But the funny part was, she was about to sing her hit song, “Am I OK?” She’s OK.
