This weekend in Milwaukee, Alan Jackson closed out the final stop on his Last Call: One More for the Road Tour with a big announcement. He is officially retiring from touring. Here’s what he said, “Y’all may have heard that I’m kinda winding down, and in fact this is my last road show of my career.” The crowd then gave him a standing ovation. He said, “Y’all gonna make me tear up out here. But I will say, this is my last road show out here, but we’re planning on doing a big finale show in Nashville . . . It just felt like I had to end it all where it all started. And that’s in Nashville, Tennessee. Music City. It started 40 years ago this September, my wife and I drove to Nashville in an old U-Haul trailer and chased this dream . . . It’s been a crazy ride. I lived the American dream for sure, and I’m so blessed and thank y’all all so much for your support for the music.” Here are some of Alan’s accomplishments: He’s one of the best-selling music artists of all-time, with 35 #1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country chart . . . he’s won two Grammys, 16 CMAs, and 17 ACMs . . .And he’s a member of the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The premise of the show is: 12 up-and-coming artists will be thrown on stage to open for Keith Urban, at seven mid-size venues across Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. And Gretchen Wilson will be their tour manager. Gretchen says in the trailer, “Opening for Keith Urban is not for the faint of heart.” There’s no official premiere date set, but they think sometime in the fall.

30 years ago Bruce Springsteen recorded a country album. And it’s about to see the light of day. While he was recording his album, “The Ghost of Tom Joad”, back in 1995, Bruce was listening to a lot of country music. So much so, that he also recorded a country album alongside the making of “Tom Joad”. The album was originally titled, “Somewhere North of Nashville” . . . but it never got released. Luckily Bruce’s new project, “Tracks 2: The Lost Albums” will show his long-lost country side. The album is out on June 27th. But he already released a sneak-peak. The song is called “Repo Man”.
