O.G. country fans aren’t happy after Morgan Wallen revealed he turned Keith Whitley’s “Miami, My Amy” into a RAP song. People figured out he was doing something with it after a track called “Miami” popped up on a screen behind him on “SNL”. He said he took Keith’s 1985 hit and made it a little more “rap style.” Old-school fans took to social media with comments like, “No thanks” and “Ruining Whitley songs should be illegal.”
The Grand Ole Opry’s 100th celebration went down last month and it was full of awesome performances from lots of country stars. But there was one person’s absence that was definitely felt. And that was Jelly Roll. He was supposed to perform with Ashley McBryde to sing “Jackson” . . . but he was replaced at the last minute by Post Malone. Here’s said, “I have cancelled one show in the last five years because of an ailment, and it was the “Grand Ole Opry: 100″. It broke my heart, man. I just could not break this fever.” He said he was especially bummed because he’s been so focused on his health lately . . . and he prides himself on being able to work sick usually. But this one knocked him out.
Megan Moroney just won the Billboard Women in Music “Rule Breaker of the Year”. Here’s what she said in her acceptance speech: “This is so cool. When I found out I was getting the Rule Breaker Award, I thought it was kinda funny. Because in real life, I am an avid rule follower. I stole a piece of gum when I was ten from a ballpark and I still think about it.” She went on to thank her team and everyone that helped her get to where she is today.
Blake Shelton surprised his opening act Drake Milligan at a show in Indiana . . . and had him come back out so they could perform a duet. They did George Strait hit “All My Ex’s Live in Texas”. Even though they’re on the same bill, fans are pointing out how cool it was for Blake to bring him out so they could share the stage. And while Drake looks a little nervous at first, he definitely seemed thrilled by the end.
