A couple weeks ago, “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton became only the fourth song in Country music history to pass a billion streams on Spotify. Well, now “Something in the Orange” by Zach Bryan makes FIVE. For comparison’s sake, “Tennessee Whiskey” was released in 2015, and “Something in the Orange” was released in 2022 and already hit a billion. The only other Country songs to eclipse the billion-mark are: “10,000 Hours” by Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber . . . “Meant to Be” by Bebe Rexha featuring Florida Georgia Line . . . and “Last Night” by Morgan Wallen. Zach was very appreciative on X. He said, “Thank you guys so much for a billion on ‘Something in the Orange’ . . . Never in a million years could I have ever dreamed it. I love you guys so much and can’t explain how much it means.” To celebrate, “Something in the Orange” was added to the “Billions Club” playlist on Spotify. There are now 726 songs on the list.
Even though the NFL season hasn’t even kicked off yet, people are already talking about who they want to see perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. George Kittle, who’s the star tight end for the San Francisco 49ers, made his opinion known in an interview the other day. And we’re not mad at his choice. He was asked, “Who do you want for Super Bowl halftime show?” George paused for half of one second, and then confidently said, “Jelly Roll.” I mean, Jelly would be an awesome choice. And he could bring out Lainey Wilson, and maybe Eminem as his special guests? For reference, the last Country artist to sing at the halftime show was Shania Twain in 2003, but she was joined by No Doubt and Sting. The last completely Country halftime show was in 1994, featuring Clint Black . . . Tanya Tucker . . . Travis Tritt . . . and Wynonna and Naomi Judd. Do you think the NFL will go Country? If so, Jelly Roll is a great choice.
