Last week, Carly Pearce was performing at a festival and she said to the crowd, “I want to tell you a little about me.” To which a rude fan then yelled, “No one cares.” So Carly did what any performer would do in this situation: Swore a bunch, and then kicked the dude out. Don’t mess with Carly. Well, she just spoke about the experience for the first time, and she didn’t back down. Carly said, “I guess people are learning a new side of me. But, the boys do it all the time. It’s no different. “If somebody’s going to show disrespect at my show, get out . . . He hit me in a moment where my Kentucky came out full force . . . and I’m so tired of being afraid of standing up for myself.” Good for you, Carly. I bet people will now think twice about talking smack at one of your shows.
Elle King is a “different person” after her drunken Dolly Parton tribute back in January . . . and that it’s an “opportunity for growth,” because she couldn’t stay in the place where she was back then. In a new interview, she said, “I was very sad . . . nobody really knows what I was going through behind closed doors . . . I’ve had to heal and deal and go through things.” Some people told Elle that there would be a “silver lining” after all that chaos . . . and she has seen some of it. But she added, quote, “I was not okay, and I’m still not okay.”
If you’re one of Miranda Lambert’s dedicated fan club members, then over the weekend you were treated to an audio clip of her unreleased song, “No Man’s Land”. A fan posted a screenshot of the text and it read, “Here’s an early preview of a new song from “Postcards from Texas”. It’s called “No Man’s Land”. “No Man’s Land” is the 10th song off of her new album, which will come out on September 13th. But if you want to hear the song, and you aren’t a fan club member, do not fret. Miranda posted on Twitter, quote, “A Sunday song surprise. Text 430-300-0144 if you wanna hear.” So all you have to do is text that number, and you can listen to a clip from an awesome new song. Pretty high-tech, modern stuff if you ask me.
Gretchen Wilson is never afraid to speak her mind. She was interviewed recently by Evan Paul, the host of “Taste of Country Nights”. Some of the topics they discussed were: the first time she heard Carrie Underwood . . . how much she dislikes political correctness . . . and the worst mistakes new artists can make. But it was her thoughts on the current state of Country music that really stuck out. She said, “I sometimes feel like in Country music we’re kinda like the border, a little too wide open. Everybody, come on in.” Then she qualified that statement by saying, “But then there’s other moments where I’m so glad that Country music is so all-encompassing. And we have so much of a variety for people to listen to. “Country music has become so wide, that if you can’t find some part of Country music that you like . . . well there’s kinda something wrong with you.”
