It wasn’t Travis’s favorite.  He’d dissed it in an interview, saying, “I don’t think [it] makes much of a statement.  I just don’t care much for the song.” In Billy Ray’s speech, he thanked his family for instilling religious values in him as a kid, and thanked his fans for loving the song so much.  Then he ended by addressing his critics, and snuck in a dig about Travis’s song, “Here’s a Quarter”. He said if you don’t like “Achy Breaky Heart” . . . “here’s a quarter, call someone who cares.”  Travis’s song had been nominated for the same award a year earlier, but he lost to Garth Brooks for “The Thunder Rolls”.

Oliver Anthony independently released his debut album yesterday called “Hymnal of a Troubled Man’s Mind”.  It’s the story of his life from 2013 to 2023.  “This album represents the most pure and transparent view inside my heart and soul that I could offer . . .”While ‘Richmond’ was the song that got my name out in the public, these songs represent the true foundation of the music that got me through life up until now . . . Now, I can begin releasing my most recent work, without feeling like I skipped an important step.”
