In an interview from a few months ago Jelly Roll made this very bold claim, “I’ve always looked at beer as men’s version of wine.  It’s kind of like something, you know, girls would do.” He went on to say, “When a dude’s like oh I drank 10 beers, I’m like ‘Or you could’ve drank three shots like a real man.'”  What’s funny is that later in the interview, his wife Bunnie XO threw him under the bus and said he can’t drink beer because it “makes his tummy hurt.” Jelly Roll apparently has a gluten allergy and has NEVER had a beer.   He admitted, “Very few things are more embarrassing than my wife [saying publicly] about her husband, ‘His tummy hurts.'”

Yesterday, Netflix released an awesome documentary called, “The Greatest Night in Pop”, about the making of “We Are the World” in 1985.  There were 46 of the biggest vocalists of the time in the same room all night long.    But Waylon Jennings stormed out half-way through. Apparently, the vibe was good until Michael Jackson suggested everyone sing a gibberish part that some thought mocked an African dialect.  This caused an argument to break out, until Stevie Wonder thought he found a good solution by suggesting they all sing a Swahili phrase.  And this was too much for Waylon Jennings who informed all of the megastars that he was out.  He said, “No good old boy sings in Swahili,” and left the studio.  After that a larger fight broke out and the Swahili line was eventually scrapped. Waylon can’t be seen in any of the group photos, or the video for the song, but he is credited as being part of the

Chris Stapleton released a new single from his 2023 album, “Higher”, called “Think I’m in Love with You”.  He says, quote, “When we were recording [it], we were making sure that we were all playing as quietly as possible, and I think that really informs the song.” He also recently scored his fourth #1 single on country radio with “White Horse”.

Reba McEntire is celebrating 23 years since her Broadway debut.  She starred in “Annie Get Your Gun” for a few months in 2001. In a throwback Instagram post, she said, quote, “I never got tired of singing beautiful songs like these, and I’ll always be grateful I had the chance to play Annie Oakley.”

Remember when Garth Brooks refused to accept his “Artist of the Year” award at the AMAs?  It happened 28 years ago this week. He took the stage in 1996 and said he didn’t think he deserved to win over the other nominees . . . Green Day, Boyz II Men, TLC, and Hootie & the Blowfish. Later on backstage, he said HOOTIE should have won for single-handedly keeping record stores in business. Darius Rucker would of course shift over a decade later and go on to become one of the biggest stars in country music.

Shannen Doherty has provided a positive cancer update after revealing in November that her cancer had spread to her bones. She is on a new cancer infusion that she didn’t want to name quite yet. “After four treatments, we didn’t really see a difference and everybody wanted her to switch, and she just kinda was like, ‘We’re gonna keep going with this and see. After the sixth or seventh treatment ,they really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier.
