If you’re living a sober lifestyle because you have to, you might see yourself in Luke Combs’ song, “Joe”. He wrote it because he thought that lifestyle was underserved in country music. “Our genre has so many songs about drinking and partying, I’m probably one of the worst culprits of it. “Sometimes I wonder what someone in the crowd who doesn’t drink, or struggles with addiction, is thinking or feeling when there’s thousands of people around them screaming ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’. “I’ve always wanted a song for those people to have for themselves . . . to have a song they can sing at the top of their lungs and feel like they’re not forgotten.” “Joe” is on Luke’s next album, “Gettin’ Old”, which is out March 24th.
I don’t always think of country singers as actors, but it’s something they have to do in their music videos. Dierks Bentley recently told a funny story about the time he HAD to get romantic in a video, but didn’t want to. It was for his song, “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes”. Here’s the story. Quote, “I just got married, and I’m on the video shoot. There’s this really pretty girl [who’s] my partner in the video. And we’re supposed to be romantic. “I’m like, ‘I just got married, I don’t know how to do this.’ I spent most of the video touching her face. I did that, like, 50 times. I don’t know what else I’m allowed to do. It’s one of those videos I watched once, and never watched again.”
They revealed the lineup for this year’s Barefoot Country Music Fest, and it’s stacked. Performers include Blake Shelton, Kid Rock, Darius Rucker, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson, Jimmie Allen, Riley Green, Lady A, and Parmalee. It’s going down June 15th through the 18th in Wildwood, New Jersey.
Blake Shelton is pulling out the deep cuts on his “Back to the Honky Tonk Tour”. He posted a video of himself performing “Playboys of the Southwestern World”. It was released in 2003 as the third single from his album, “The Dreamer”.
Tim McGraw, Maren Morris, Dustin Lynch, Tyler Hubbard, Blake Shelton, Flo Rida, and Scotty McCreery are some of the performers at next fall’s Coastal Country Jam. It’s happening September 16th and 17th in Long Beach, California.
A fan managed to sneak a schnauzer into one of Riley Green’s shows last weekend. And that’s not even the best part. The dog was groomed to look like it has a mullet. They even managed to get it close enough for Riley to sing to it. You can check out pics and a clip at WhiskeyRiff.com.
Alabama is reviving their June Jam benefit concert. If you’re not familiar, I understand. The last time they did it was 1997. It takes place in their hometown of Fort Payne, Alabama on June 3rd. They’re headlining, and special guests will be announced in the coming weeks.
