People are still talking about Kacey Musgraves’ performance of “Coal Miner’s Daughter” during the Loretta Lynn tribute at the Grammys.  And by people, I mean Loretta’s family. They posted a photo from Kacey’s performance on Instagram, and wrote, “Thank you, @Spacey-Kacey for this beautiful tribute.  The love all of you have shown us for our mom is beyond words.” In case you missed it, here’s something else that was really special about the performance.  Kacey was playing Loretta’s 1963 Epiphone guitar.  It’s the one with Loretta’s name spelled-out along the fretboard. Kacey posted her own set of pics and wrote:  “Ten-year-old me singing Loretta’s songs wouldn’t have believed I would have the opportunity to hold onto the exact object she made magic with and channeled her greatness through . . “Her ’63 Epiphone was a dream to play.  Thank you to her daughters for trusting me with this great moment of honor.  She paved such a path and I wouldn’t have ever had the courage or place I have as a songwriter without her.”

It was fun to see how surprised Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde were when “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” won a Grammy on Sunday.    There’s a video of Carly backstage calling her mom, and it sounds like she missed it.  She asks mom if she’s watching, and then says, “I just won.  Yeah, I just won.  It’s nuts.  Just thought I’d tell ya.”

Somebody asked Luke Combs backstage at the Grammys if he thought he’d have such a successful career.  He said, quote, “I didn’t think THIS would happen.  I believed my job would be in music in some capacity.” He figured he’d be in a band, or maybe a backup singer, demo singer, or a songwriter.  Quote, “I just wanted to work in music, I just wanted to have a job that never felt like a job.  That was the goal.”

You could spend a lot of money on expensive toys for your kids.  Or, you could follow Thomas Rhett’s lead.  He put two-year-old Lennon, and one-year-old Lillie in a laundry basket with wheels, and rolled them all over the house.  He posted a clip on Instagram, and they’re loving every minute of it.

Isaiah Thomas is 34.  NBA All Star.

Ashton Kutcher is 45.

Chris Rock is 58.

Garth Brooks is 61.

Eddie Izzard is 61.  British comedian who played master thief Roman Nagel in “Ocean’s Twelve” and “Ocean’s Thirteen”.

James Spader is 63.  “The Blacklist”.  He was also Ultron in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, and Robert California on “The Office”.

Here are a few more good news stories making the rounds . . .

1.  Kids at an elementary school in Wisconsin may have just set a new record by using more than 7,000 cereal boxes as dominoes.  The line wrapped through the school’s hallways and into the gym.  They think they beat the record, but they’re waiting for Guinness to confirm it.  All of the cereal was donated to food banks.

2.  A 12-year-old in New Jersey heard that a truck full of frozen French fries crashed.  So he recorded his own news report, and an actual station played it on the air.  He said no one was hurt, all the fries are okay, and his teacher who got stuck in traffic still made it to school on time.

3.  A dog that was dumped in the desert in Nevada was rescued after living more than six months with a pack of coyotes.  They accepted him, and he may have even been the alpha.  Some trappers finally managed to catch him in a cage.  His rescuers say he’ll be okay and loves humans.

4.  And speaking of dogs:  14 dogs in Germany broke a world record for most dogs in a conga line.  It happened in August, but Guinness just posted the footage.  The previous record of nine was held by the trainer’s daughter.  So he actually snatched it away from her.
