Brantley Gilbert took his last drink on December 18th, 2011. But that doesn’t mean he’s been totally clean since then. In a recent interview he was asked how long he’s been sober. He said, quote, “To be completely honest and transparent, I have to be respectful to the folks in the recovery community that are absolutely sober. I have to be careful with the definition of sober. “I’m California Sober if that makes any sense. I’m a Willie Nelson fan.” In his case, that means he smokes weed but stays away from everything else. If you’re struggling with addiction and thinking about following his lead, he recommends getting help first. Quote, “I really try to turn people on to the professionals who are trained, [because ] treatment is really the only way to go.”
Blake Shelton has teamed up with some rock and roll heavyweights for a good cause. They covered the Tom Petty song “I Won’t Back Down”. Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit fromthe Eagles are on it, and so is Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum. Proceeds go to The Miraculous Love Kids, which gives guitar lessons to girls from war-torn countries like Afghanistan.
Cody Johnson will be performing at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on March 11th. If you’re a rodeo fan, you already know that means he’s doing the halftime set at The American Rodeo. Cody used to work the circuit as a bull rider, so will he try to qualify to rope at the event? Quote, “That would be like the coolest double whammy ever, but we’ll see how it goes. I sing a lot better than I rope, so we’ll see.”
Dolly Parton told the “Tennessean” that she’s opening a museum in Nashville within the next few years. It’ll be part of a larger “complex” that she’s calling “Dolly Center”, which might include a restaurant or a bar and grill. Dolly says this new museum would be in addition to her museum at Dollywood.
