Quote, “Man, I wish I could say I have good news and say I’m off the market, but I don’t. I’m lonely.” I can’t imagine a country star using a dating app, and neither can Dustin. It’s not his thing. Then again, he’s not exactly breaking a sweat trying to find someone. “I’m terrible at knowing how to meet people right now, because when I come off the road, I just need to veg and chill and recluse.” He does have a type. He said he’s “a sucker for brunettes with light eyes” so if you fit the bill, reach out. But not through a dating app. He met Kelli Seymour by sliding into her DMs, so hit up his Instagram and see what happens.
Toby Keith got the “Icon Award” at the BMI Country Awards in Nashville last week. And they posted an interview where he talks about the advice he’d give rookie songwriters trying to break in. You should write one song every day, and do your best to finish them. It felt like he “wrote 200 songs” before he wrote a good one. Then it took 150 more to write his second good one. You have to practice to really get good at something. Now that he’s got three decades and over 30 number-one hits under his belt he says it does come easier. For example, he knew his song “Don’t Let the Old Man In” could be a hit as soon as he had the title. But even then, he knew it wouldn’t be a good song unless he could “nail it.”
Cody Johnson is a Pandora billionaire, which is not as cool as being an ACTUAL billionaire, but it’s still a big accomplishment. He’s had more than a billion streams on Pandora . . . and really, he’s up to 1.5 billion. Cody is celebrating by thanking his fans for their support.
“CMT Crossroads” is celebrating its 20th anniversary with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. They have a 90-minute special premiering November 29th on CMT. They’ll perform songs like “Can’t Let Go” and “High and Lonesome”, and Led Zeppelin hits like “When the Levee Breaks”.
