Father’s Day is THIS Sunday, and “Sesame Street” is celebrating by unleashing a “Friends” parody.  Basically, it’s a fun song that re-works the show’s theme, “I’ll Be There for You”. It includes subtle “Friends” references, like a creative rendition of “Smelly Cat” . . . a puppet wearing Joey’s Thanksgiving turkey hat . . . and a nod to Ross’ “pivot!” At the end, there’s a message that says:  “Fathers are our forever friends.  To all the fathers and father figures raising amazing kids:  Thank you for being there.”

CARRIE UNDERWOOD’s two little boys haven’t discovered her music.  Yet.  Isaiah is seven and Jacob is three, so you know they’ll eventually come around.  But as of right now she said, “We went through the ‘Blippi’ phase.  We’re on the other side now.  [And] Isaiah would be like, ‘Can you play ‘Power Rangers’ songs in the car?’ We went through ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ songs, just different things they would see on TV.  Sometimes it would be [music] they heard about somewhere and would get stuck on.  Kids have terrible taste in music.” In the same interview she revealed what was really going through her mind at Stagecoach when Axl Rose joined her to perform “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Paradise City”.  “I was like, this is for me right now. “I know there’s an audience out there, I know they’re going to be loving every second of this, but for a few minutes it’s me living out my dream on that stage.”

Yesterday, the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville announced that the Dolly Parton once again donated $1 million, this time for pediatric infectious disease research. “No child should ever have to suffer,” the 76 year old said. The funding will help advance Vanderbilt’s leading studies on the causes of disease, understanding resistance to antibiotics and preventing and treating infections in children with cancer. Dolly’s niece, Hannah Dennison, was successfully treated for leukemia as a child at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Pediatric Cancer Program.  Dr. Jeff Balser, president and CEO of Vanderbilt University Medical Center and dean of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine said, “This new gift will bolster our defenses against future threats to the safety of this region and society as a whole.” This isn’t the first time Dolly generously contributed to the hospital. In 2020, she donated $1 million, which was used to fund research for the Moderna vaccine.

CHRIS STAPLETON is getting his own exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame.  There will be tons of stuff to see, including instruments, clothes . . . and even his Waffle House Golden Waffle award as the most-played artist on their jukeboxes in 2019.  The exhibit will run from July 1st of this year, through May 14th of 2023.

If you like KIP MOORE’s music, you can thank his father for turning him onto classic artists like Little River Band, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, Willie Nelson, and Sam Cooke. “He’d be singing the songs and telling us why it was such good music.  And I looked up to him so much, that’s the music I gravitated towards and that’s what I continue to listen to.”  (Kip’s dad passed away in 2011.)
