When MORGAN WALLEN got canceled last year, he still had friends who stood by his side the whole time, and one of them was JASON ALDEAN. Jason talked about it in a recent interview. “There was a small group of us that had [his] back in the whole thing. When everybody else was beating up on him. Where I’m from, when you got a friend that’s down, you don’t just step on ’em and keep ’em down . . . you help them get back on their feet and teach ’em and try to help them be better. That’s what we try to do, and I think a lot of people knew that.” He also showed solidarity by performing with Morgan, Tyler Hubbard, and Luke Bryan back in July . . . and at Morgan’s Nashville show last month. He does think Morgan’s punishment was “a little excessive” . . . but at the same time he learned from it, and that’s always good.
CHRIS JANSON’s fourth album, “All In”, is out tomorrow . . . and so is the new single, “You, Me & the River”. It’s a duet with his fishing buddy ERIC CHURCH, and he has a great story of how that came together. “I was coming in from Montana, and had just landed about 3:30 in the morning. My phone dinged and it was this voice memo from Eric. He said, ‘Hey, this is a little bit dark, but I wanted to see what you think.'” Chris listened to the rough version and loved the song. And then on a whim texted back asking Eric if he’d like to make it a duet. He said “I thought he’d say no, but he immediately texted back, ‘I’m in.’ “I looked at my wife and was like, ‘I guess I’m doing a duet with Eric Church now.’ I was like, ‘Am I really on that level where he respects me enough to send me a song?’ Holy schnikes.”
