Freestyle skier Colby Stevenson also picked up a silver medal in men’s big air. As of 3:30 this morning, the U.S. was sitting on seven medals, including a gold, five silvers and a bronze. We’ve seen plenty of duos or groups make a BIG deal about breaking up or retiring . . . and before you know it they’re back together. So FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE saved us the trouble. This came up in an interview, TYLER HUBBARD said, “We’re using these last [tour dates] as a time to celebrate FGL, and the fans, and then support each other on the next chapter of our journey, which is gonna be individually for a while.” BRIAN KELLEY was a little more specific: “We’re not going our separate ways. We’re taking a break. We’re being artists. We love creating. A couple years back, we started writing without each other, and now we’re both doing that with our music.” They’ve had their differences, but they’ll be partners to the end. Brian said, “We’ve built something that’s way bigger than us . . . and it’ll always be.” Tyler added, “I picture being 85, sitting on a porch together, telling stories to our kids. I’m excited for him, and vice versa. What we’ve built together allows us to have the foundation to do different things and to be able to create whatever we want to do. But that brotherhood . . . that’ll always be there.”
Someone asked BRAD PAISLEY for his thoughts on Black History Month, and it brought up memories of his longtime friend, Charley Pride. “I opened for him in my hometown in West Virginia and kept in touch and stayed friends. “I think about the trail he blazed for Darius [Rucker], Jimmie Allen, and Mickey Guyton. In our format, I’m aware of what it’s like for those artists to break in. It’s been wonderful to watch them make great music and be welcomed with open arms. “And I think back to Charley a lot, especially now that he’s gone.”
Imagine being BRANDON DAVIS. You’re struggling to get noticed, and then TIM MCGRAW invites you to join him on a virtual duet of “Something Like That”. And THEN . . . he invites you to go on tour. It’s almost too much to comprehend. “It means the world, and I’m beyond honored that the man himself gave me the chance to take that stage and do what I truly love on such a large scale. Touring with one of my country music idols is a dream come true.”
