HOWARD HESSEMAN died Saturday due to complications from colon surgery. He was 81 years old. Best known for playing rock DJ Dr. Johnny Fever on “WKRP in Cincinnati” from 1978 to 1982. He went on to play teacher Charlie Moore on “Head of the Class” from 1986 to 1990 . . . and he joined “One Day at a Time” from 1982 to 1984 as Sam Royer. Over the years he also made guest appearances on TV shows like “ER”, “That ’70s Show”, and “Fresh off the Boat”. His films included “This Is Spinal Tap”, “Dr. Detroit”, and “Billy Jack”.
Poor WALKER HAYES. He performed during halftime at yesterday’s Bengals – Chiefs game, but all anyone is talking about is how he drowned-out the CBS analysts trying to do the mid-game roundup. Somebody in charge of the audio screwed-up, so as you’re watching James Brown, Nate Burleson, Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason, and Bill Cowher trying to discuss the game . . . you’re hearing Walker perform “Fancy Like” and “AA”. Naturally, Twitter had a field day. One person wrote, “Who scheduled a football game in the middle of a Walker Hayes concert?” Another said, “We’re getting a halftime show and a halftime show at the same time.” This one loved the chaos, quote, “This is the greatest halftime show in the history of televised sports.” This person called it: “A producer is getting fired today.” Walker posted a clip of it, but played it safe, saying, “CBSSports, thanks for having me.”
FAITH HILL shared a clip of a funny scene from “1883”. That’s the “Yellowstone” prequel she’s in with Tim McGraw. The clip shows Faith and RITA WILSON drinking “whiskey punch” from a bottle while laughing at each other, and Tim. Faith gets so hammered she tumbles off a chair.
CARLY PEARCE recently talked about the decision she had to make after divorcing Michael Ray. She could’ve acted like it never happened, but that didn’t feel right. So, she talked about it, and wrote music about it. Quote, “I went 100%, because I didn’t want to give it half. And it opened me up so much to who I am.”
KACEY MUSGRAVES has been paying tribute to the great Dolly Parton on her current tour. She’s been performing “9 to 5”, and doing a pretty good job. This clip is from last week’s show in Philadelphia.
Back in November, an eight-year-old boy named Jax was at a LUKE COMBS concert singing his heart out to “Doin’ This”. Somebody posted a clip that slowly picked up steam until Luke finally saw it. He shared it last Thursday and wrote, “This! This is why I’d still be ‘Doin’ This’ if I wasn’t ‘Doin’ This’.” It gets better. A member of Luke’s team reached out to say they’re working on getting an autograph for Jax.
Some people aren’t happy about Minnie Mouse’s very first pantsuit. MAREN MORRIS is NOT one of them. And to prove it, she posted a photo of herself wearing one of her own, and wrote, “Let Minnie Mouse wear a damn pantsuit.”
JENNIFER NETTLES wants to make sure you know she has a recurring role on the HBO Max series, “The Righteous Gemstones”. She’s been posting photos and clips of herself on the show. Jennifer plays the deceased wife of John Goodman’s character, Dr. Eli Gemstone. She appears in flashbacks.
JOE EXOTIC was resentenced to 21 years in prison, just a year less than his original sentence.
