Jimmie Allen’s New Children Book Teaches Kids To Use Their Voice

It’s been a busy year for Jimmie Allen.

The ACM New Male Artist of the Year is looking forward to the birth of his next child, he’s still celebrating being a newly wed, he’s rocking the country charts with “Freedom Was A Highway” with Brad Paisley – who he’s also out on tour with, and on top of it all, Jimmie just released a children’s book.

My Voice is a Trumpet – written by Jimmie Allen and illustrated by Cathy Ann Johnson – is a story aimed at children to share with them the importance of speaking up and doing the right thing.

As a child he struggled with a severe stutter, and on a recent appearance on The Today Show with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, Jimmie shared that he, “hated talking in person…public speaking? Forget about it.”

He also shared that he was encouraged by his speech therapist to sing the first few words of sentence because “when people sing, they don’t stutter.”

Jimmie recognizes the power of “speaking up,” and My Voice is a Trumpet encourages kids to do just that. Speak up for the powerless, encourage others, and overcome your differences.

My Voice Is A Trumpet is available now in book stores and at Penguinrandomhouse.com
