SAMUEL L. JACKSON has only ever been nominated for ONE Oscar.  It was Best Supporting Actor for “Pulp Fiction” in 1994, and he didn’t win. But it sounds like the Academy has finally realized how badly they’ve wronged him, because he’s getting an HONORARY Oscar next year. The Academy says, “Sam Jackson is a cultural icon whose dynamic work has resonated across genres and generations and audiences worldwide.”  That doesn’t explain why they’ve virtually IGNORED him for 30 years. Three other people get honorary statues this year:  Danny Glover, Liv Ullmann, and Elaine May.

Wedding season has officially arrived and for those couples looking for the perfect playlist, country music has more than enough to offer. In celebration, Spotify teamed up with country stars Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd as the husband-and-wife duo take over their popular Country Wedding playlist. The couple, who got married in March 2018, kicked off the lengthy collection with the first dance song from their own wedding. Ashley Monroe’s ‘Has Anybody Ever Told You’ was the song for their first dance at their wedding. They also include a mix of some of their country favorites by Dan+Shay, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley and Russell Dickerson, while still keeping a few wedding classics on the list.

Zac Brown Band, Darius Rucker, Old Dominion, Chris Janson, Cole Swindell, and Tenille Arts, are some of the artists performing at this year’s “Live In The Vineyard Goes Country.”  It’s a three-day festival going down November 2nd through the 4th in Napa Valley California.

There’s a BLAKE SHELTON tribute band called Blake Nation, and they finally got to meet their hero a little over a week ago.  They were backstage at Blake’s Ole Red Tishomingo when he showed up to say hi, and even told them they were doing “a great job.”

TRACE ADKINS gets help from Luke Bryan and Pitbull on a song called “Where the Country Girls At”.  It’s no “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” . . . or is it?  It’ll be on Trace’s upcoming album “The Way I Wanna Go”, which drops August 27th.

LIAM NEESON didn’t learn to drive until he was almost 30 . . . and only because he had to.  And his teacher was HELEN MIRREN. Liam got a gig on the 1981 King Arthur movie “Excalibur”, which she was also in.  But they didn’t provide transportation to the set, so he had to buy a car and get a license . . . and Helen helped him do it. He says, “Helen and I formed a lovely friendship, I’m proud to say.  But yeah, she taught me how to drive, yeah.  Essentially.”

DIERKS BENTLEY and LUKE BRYAN did a 100-mile road bike race last month in Jackson, Mississippi.  Dierks talked about it in a recent interview, and focused on the tight biking pants they wore. “We strapped on the ‘old guys in tight clothing look’ [with] the lycra, big bike helmet, and glasses.  Not a look you want to be seen in. [But] when you’re six hours into it, you’re dead, giving all you have, and your pants are slowing you down and you’re like, ‘at this point I’d ride naked if it helped.’  You want it over and don’t want wind resistance.  [So] you’re there with the tight pants.” Luke won the race Dierks said “[Luke’s] surprisingly good.  He’s got those big strong legs . . . those farm legs . . . it’s like tree trunks pushing down on the pedals.  [So] yeah, he won.”
