Last Thursday, ZAC EFRON appeared on the online special “Earth Day! The Musical” . . . but he didn’t look quite like himselfHe’d put on some muscle, and that may or may not have had something to do with his face taking on a slightly different shape.  Some people compared him to the “Handsome Squidward” from “SpongeBob SquarePants”People are speculating that he had plastic surgery, or maybe Botox and other fillers. Zac has his share of defenders, who are calling out everyone for commenting on his look. Someone also pointed out that people were freaking out about how much weight Chadwick Boseman had lost . . . before we knew he was battling CANCER.

JUSTIN BIEBER performed for inmates at the California State Prison in L.A. last month . . . but he chose to sing “Lonely” . . . a song that doesn’t sound much like a pick-me-up for people who spend their lives behind bars. Justin was there to support the prison’s faith-based programs.  He also sat down with inmates in the prison yard listening to speakers who were spreading the gospel. And Justin did sing three other songs during his performance, but there’s no word what they were.

In an interview with People, CHRIS JANSON gave the frightening details about his house fire earlier this month. Everyone got out safely, and no one was injured. The whole family was asleep when his wife Kelly heard a beep coming from downstairs, so she woke him up.  He said, “If it weren’t for her hearing that faint ‘beep, beep’ of the fire detector, it could have been very bad.” The fire was in his basement studio right below their bedroom.  He called 911, and Kelly and the two kids evacuated.  Then he tried to put out the fire with huge buckets of water. “I went into survival mode.  This was not a little fire.  This was a legit, ‘7-foot flame, taller than me’ fire.  It was a ‘melting my ceiling fan onto my ottoman’ fire.” “[It] melted my ottoman and literally created a campfire essentially right in the middle of my studio room.  Thankfully, it didn’t burn the house.”

Last night’s “Oscars” were supposed to be different.  There was supposed to be some kind of “theatrical” quality to the show. But frankly, it was pretty run-of-the-mill, other than an “opening credits” scene, featuring first presenter REGINA KING walking into L.A.’s Union Station and onto the stage. Also, it was a very small set, with basically just nominees in the house. As threatened, winners were encouraged to spend a little more time yapping, and many of them did.  They also showed a lot fewer movie clips throughout the show . . . most notably during the Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards. TYLER PERRY won the night when he called on Americans to MEET IN THE MIDDLE while accepting the Humanitarian Award. He said, quote, “I refuse to hate someone because they are Mexican or because they are black or white.  Or LGBTQ.  I refuse to hate someone because they are a police officer or because they are Asian.  I would hope we would refuse hate. “And I want to take this . . . humanitarian award and dedicate it to anyone who wants to stand in the middle . . . Because that’s where healing, that’s where conversation happens, that’s where change happens.  It happens in the middle. Anyone who wants to meet me in the middle to refuse hate, to refuse blanket judgment, and to help lift someone’s feet off the ground, this one is for you, .” “Nomadland” was the big winner, with Best Picture, Best Actress for FRANCES MCDORMAND, and Best Director for CHLOÉ ZHAO. . . whose pigtails and lack of makeup may have been the standout look of the night.  ANTHONY HOPKINS won Best Actor for “The Father”, although he wasn’t there to collect .oldest acting winner to win  . . and DANIEL KALUUYA won Best Supporting Actor for “Judas and the Black Messiah”. 17 women won
