Scalpers Seeking Thousands of Dollars for Tickets to Dolly Parton’s 50th Grand Ole Opry Anniversary Show

Ticket scalpers are looking to make a killing on Dolly Parton’s 50th Grand Ole Opry Celebration on Oct. 12.

More than 100 tickets for the two shows (7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.) are listed between $1,000–$5,000 on StubHub, with one seller outrageously asking $14,587.69 for a main floor ticket (there are still four tickets available at this price). There are also numerous sellers asking between $400–$900 per ticket.

Tickets for the two shows initially went on sale in November 2018—and sold out almost immediately. Tickets for Opry shows on Saturdays typically run between $45–$110.

The Opry’s two shows on Oct. 12 will feature Dolly Parton, Lady Antebellum, Jeannie Seely, Toby Keith, Margo Price, Barry Gibb, Hank Williams, Jr. (1st show only), Candi Carpenter and more.

“It was always my dream to be on the Opry,” said Dolly, when the shows were announced in 2018. “I actually got to sing on the Grand Ole Opry when I was about 10 years old. I officially became a member back in 1969 and I cannot believe next year I will celebrate 50 proud years of being a member of the Grand Ole Opry! They call it the ‘Mother Church’ because the old Ryman was a church, but it’s sacred to me, wherever it goes—the church of my heart. For me, the Opry is like the song ‘New York, New York’—if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. I am excited to be coming back home to celebrate 50 years of membership.”
