NICK JONAS was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 13 . . . and he almost found out about it the hard way. He was losing weight and had developed a huge craving for soda – so his parents took him to the doctor. They measured his blood sugar, and it was 9 TIMES higher than normal. He says, “I was very close to a coma.  Like a day away, if I hadn’t gone to the hospital. I was very scared . . . it’s a big life change.  [But] I found out very quickly it’s a very manageable disease.  As long as you’re really diligent.”

Yesterday was the second anniversary of the Route 91 massacre in Las Vegas.

JASON ALDEAN was on stage when the shooting started, so that will always be with him. Here’s what he posted:  “This will always be a tough day for us.  Not a day goes by that we don’t think about our Route 91 Harvest Festival family.”

CHRIS YOUNG was backstage. “This day will always be hard for me . . . remembering everyone that lost their lives on this date. Scariest night of my life.  Hug your friends and loved ones today guys.”

BIG & RICH performed earlier that day. “Vegas Strong remembering 58 members of our country music family.”

JAKE OWEN was the performer before Jason Aldean. “I think about the 58 men and women who lost their lives.  Sending my thoughts, prayers and love to all those out there that have felt the loss and effects of that night.”

GENE SIMMONS had a medical procedure yesterday for kidney stones. Gene had a kidney stone back in 2009, and he sold it on eBay for $15,000.  He gave the money to charity.

CARLY PEARCE’s bachelorette party was around Labor Day, and Michael Ray’s was a couple of weeks ago. She’s still on Jason Aldean’s Ride All Night Tour, although there’s a break in the action.  Their next show isn’t until October 11th in Arlington, Texas. Michael’s website says his next show isn’t until a week from today in Jackson, Mississippi. And that’s probably why PopCulture.com believes the wedding is going to happen within the “next several days.”  We do know that Carly finished writing her vows. Even though she’s a songwriter, she said it was hard to articulate, in a short little piece to this person, where they’ve taken you, what you’ve seen, your promises to them, where you want to go. It was pretty hard, but I think I got it.  I wrote it enough in advance to be able to edit.”

TIM MCGRAW gets kinda funky in his new song, “Way Down”. It features vocals from a guy named SHY CARTER, who also co-wrote it.

RAELYNN and her husband Josh lost their dog, Jazz. She posted photos and clips of them hanging out and doing all the things you do with your furry best friend.

COLE SWINDELL goes back to his hometown of Bronwood, Georgia for his “Right Where I Left It” video. His mom’s in it, so is his high school – there’s even a highway sign that reads, “Home of Cole Swindell.”

Fifty-one years ago, Johnny Cash was emerging from one of the lowest ebbs in his personal life and in his already-legendary career in country music. With the live album Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison and a network TV series on the horizon, Johnny was on his way to becoming an American icon. On November 11th, YouTube Originals will premiere the documentary film The Gift: The Journey of Johnny Cash, a portrait of the Man in Black – shaped by deep spirituality and unshakable tragedy.

The first “Golden Bachelorette” was announced.  It’s 61-year-old Joan Vassos.  She was on “The Golden Bachelor”, but left early to care for her daughter, who’d just given birth. Jimmy Fallon refused to use his connections to score Taylor Swift tickets for his daughters.  He says he wants them to earn things, and to be as…
