Netflix may have lost “The Office” and “Friends”, but they just acquired worldwide rights to “Seinfeld” in a five-year deal worth more than HALF A BILLION DOLLARS. Hulu has it now, but their deal ends in 2021. That’s when Netflix gets it. Netflix won “Seinfeld” in a bidding war with just about everybody.
“Saturday Night Live” has fired SHANE GILLIS just FOUR DAYS after they said he was being added to the cast. As soon as his casting was announced, the Internet dug up videos of him making racist comments on his podcast. Once the videos started making the rounds, Shane issued an apology, claiming he was a comedian who “pushes boundaries.”
We’ve now lost 3 Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks in the first two weeks of NFL action. New Orleans Saints quarterback DREW BREES needs thumb surgery and will be out for roughly six weeks. BEN ROETHLISBERGER of the Pittsburgh Steelers has a nasty elbow injury that will keep him out the WHOLE SEASON. This comes just one week after Jacksonville Jaguars QB NICK FOLES broke his collarbone. He’ll be out until mid-November. And there’s a lot of talk that ELI MANNING might be forced off the field . . . but in his case, it’s not because he’s injured . . . it’s because, well, he’s just been bad. Foles is only 30 . . . Manning is 38, and Brees is 40. Roethlisberger is 37, and he just signed a three-year deal in the off-season. He said he was “shocked” by the severity of his injury and vowed to return stronger next year to honor his full contract.
During last night’s season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars” we found out that CHRISTIE BRINKLEY broke her arm during rehearsals and had to bag on the show. So she got her DAUGHTER Sailor to take her place at the last minute. WENDY WILLIAMS thinks there’s something SHADY going on. She’s accusing Christie of FAKING the injury so that her daughter could do the show. There’s video of Christie’s fall online . . . and Wendy said, “That looked fake as (hell) . . . I don’t see a wrist and a shoulder being fractured. But that was real cute. Here’s my thought . . . I think what Christie did was she signed up for [the show] knowing that she’d put her daughter Sailor in there.” For what’s worth, Christie is denying it, and she says she’s “totally shocked” that Wendy would say that.
LAUREN ALAINA and her cboyfriend JOHN CRIST have split up. She revealed it yesterday during a radio interview and went out of her way to say it was no big deal. She said, “I mean, there’s, like, no big story. We were like, best friends before we dated, and we’re still best friends. It just didn’t work out. I guess that’s how dating goes, right?” Their first photo together was back in February, so they lasted around 5 or 6 months. She was asked if the breakup was caused by a spark between her and her “Dancing with the Stars” partner. She said, “No, no. I have not. I have not fallen in love with my dance partner.”

74 year old ROD STEWART revealed something recently that you didn’t know about him: He’s a survivor of prostate cancer. Speaking at a fundraiser for the disease over the weekend, he said, “Two years ago, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody.” Rod said he’s in the clear now because they caught it early, but he added, “Guys, you’ve got to really go to the doctor.”
MARTINA MCBRIDE has been on a mission to get fair treatment for female country artists. Her latest beef is with Spotify. She tried to make a “Country Music” Spotify playlist and what came up was beyond disappointing. “I looked at the list, and it was all male artists, and I thought, hmm. And then I refreshed and refreshed and refreshed.” It wasn’t until the 136th recommendation that she finally got to Carrie Underwood’s “Church Bells”. “My heart started pounding, and I started thinking ‘this can’t be right, this can’t be right.'” She took photos of the 10-song lists and posted them on Instagram for her 355,000 followers to see. That got the attention of a woman from Spotify. She met Martina for coffee. . . and told her that their engineers were “trying to fix it.” But that was it. Martina would like them to go public with details or at least make an announcement that they’re working on it. “I find it shocking that they feel so indestructible that they don’t even take the time to make a comment about this.”
Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman has been hospitalized for a heart issue. Chapman, 66, was taken to a hospital in Colorado on Saturday after feeling a pain in his chest. Doctors are still trying to determine what exactly happened. Chapman’s wife Beth died of complications from throat cancer on June 26. She was 51.

The Senior PGA Tour Tweeted a clip of DIERKS BENTLEY getting advice on his golf swing from JACK NICKLAUS. Dierks demonstrates a tip somebody gave him to pretend he’s sitting on a bar stool, and Jack says he’s never heard of it. And then when Dierks hits one, Jack says, “That’s pretty good there.”
