The ACMs have started a tradition of announcing early winners in the three New Artist categories. Last year they had Reba McEntire call each one . . . and this year it was CARRIE UNDERWOOD. LUKE COMBS was making breakfast when he got the call about New Male Artist.  He posted a clip and captioned it, “Got some pretty awesome news while I was making my toaster strudel.  This is a dream come true, and I’m so thankful for all of you.” ASHLEY MCBRYDE is New Female Artist and she was “full redneck” when her call came.  She was near a barn holding a red solo cup, and had to tell people in a truck to turn the radio down. LANCO was on a stage somewhere with their instruments, and they seemed pretty surprised by their New Duo or Group win.  The Instagram caption from their video thanked all the people who “believed in them” and made the journey possible. All three will perform on the show, plus each one has a chance for another trophy.  Luke is up for Male Artist of the Year . . . Ashley is nominated for Female Artist of the Year . . . and Lanco is up for Group of the Year.  The ACMs are April 7th.
