A study found that watching a scary movie for 90 minutes burns about 150 calories . . . the same as a 30-minute walk. Movies with “jump scares” work best. Here are ten scary movies the study looked at, and how many extra calories they burn.
- “The Shining”, 184 calories. (That’s just 90 minutes of it, and it’s a 2 hour and 26 minute movie. So if you watch the whole thing, it works out to 299 calories.)
- “Jaws”, 161 calories.
- “The Exorcist”, 158 calories.
- “Alien”, 152 calories.
- “Saw”, 133 calories.
- “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, 118 calories.
- “Paranormal Activity”, 111 calories.
- “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, 107 calories.
- “The Blair Witch Project”, 105 calories.
- “Rec”, 101 calories. It’s another found footage movie, like “Blair Witch”.
HBO is now hiring a professional on all their shows, whose job it is to make sure nothing inappropriate happens during the filming of sex scenes. They’re calling these people “Intimacy Coordinators.”
A female fan got a little too bold at a PISTOL ANNIES show last Thursday at the Ryman in Nashville, and MIRANDA LAMBERT didn’t like it. Everyone was in their seats watching the show, except for one woman. She was in front of the stage dancing, waving her arms around, and distracting everyone. The ushers tried to get her to leave, but she wouldn’t. That’s when Miranda got involved. She stopped the show and told the woman to “go sit back down.” But she refused to leave so Miranda handed her guitar to ANGALEENA PRESLEY and took matters into her own hands. She bent over, grabbed the woman’s hand, and led her along the stage until they were out of the spotlight. Then she came back and continued the song.
“Halloween” won the box office for a second week by making another $32 million. And “A Star is Born” made $14.1 million to remain in second place. The only new movie to make the Top 10 was “Hunter Killer”, which came in fifth.

NBC News has confirmed Megyn Kelly’s 9 a.m. Today hour has been canceled. The announcement came Friday. NBC News did not reveal who will host the hour next week, except that it will be anchors already in the Today family. “Megyn remains an employee of NBC News and discussions about next steps are continuing,”

Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, and Jason Aldean will be featured on the ABC special, “Country Music’s Biggest Stars: In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts”. It’ll feature new interviews and “updates on ten years of memorable country music moments.” It airs November 11th, which is the Sunday before the CMAs.
