OPRAH near created an INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT. Luckily, on Friday morning she realized her beige dress would have looked too WHITE on camera. So Stella McCartney’s team worked through the night to come up with a nice peach-colored replacement. ELTON JOHN sang four songs: “Your Song”, “Circle of Life”, “I’m Still Standing”, and “Tiny Dancer”. That last one contains the phrase “L.A. lady”, which might have been a nod to Meghan. Speaking of the reception, at around 7:00 P.M., somebody ordered a whole bunch of PIZZAS. One of the media’s favorite storylines about the Royal Wedding was that it was probably the most unconventional of them all. Part of that had to do with AFRICAN-AMERCAN pastor Michael Curry, who gave a sermon about love, and even name-checked Martin Luther King Jr.
KELLY CLARKSON started off the “Billboard Music Awards” calling for a “moment of action” on gun violence. She was also one of the performers, along with Janet Jackson, Salt-N-Pepa, and Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato.
The songwriter who wrote the EARTH, WIND & FIRE song “September” is NOT a fan of TAYLOR SWIFT’s new acoustic version. She said it sounds, “as lethargic as a drunk turtle dozing under a sunflower after ingesting a bottle of Valium.”
A Canadian musician is accusing the songwriters behind JASON ALDEAN’s “You Make It Easy” of plagiarizing a song he wrote called “Easy”. His name is Connor Shaw . . . and there are similarities. He wrote it for a music class back in 2015 . . . and then recorded a rough version that he posted online. A family friend in Nashville liked it and asked him to send a demo and she “would send it around.” He sent it last fall but didn’t hear anything. And then in February he heard “You Make It Easy”, which was written by Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, plus Morgan Wallen and Jordan Schmidt. He felt ripped off and posted clips of both songs. People agreed with him, including an entertainment lawyer who said he’d “never heard two songs sound so similar.” He had the lawyer send a cease-and-desist order to Florida Georgia Line’s attorney. The response from FGL’s lawyer made it clear they’d have a fight on their hands if they planned to continue. A fight that would cost a whole lot of money.
JACK OSBOURNE and his wife are getting a divorce. They just had their third child in February.
JENNIFER ANISTON will play the first female president in a Netflix movie called “First Ladies”.
DAN + SHAY’s song “Speechless” was inspired by both of their marriages. DAN SMYERS married Abby Law a year ago this month . . . while SHAY MOONEY tied it up with Hannah Billingsley last October. And now the video is out and it features clips from each wedding.
LEE BRICE will be performing on tonight’s “Miss USA” competition. It’s hosted by Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey, and will be on Fox. Nick and his band 98 Degrees will also perform.
