TV Show “Nashville” Returns to CMT in December, According to Charles Esten

The last four months have been a roller coaster ride for fans of the television drama Nashville.

First, on May 12, ABC unexpectedly announced the show would be cancelled after the Season 4 finale on May 25. Cue the audible gasps.

Second, during the Season 4 finale in May, viewers were left wondering if Hayden Panettiere’s character Juliette Barnes died in a plane crash as she was on her way to reunite with her ex-hubby. Oh, the humanity!

Third, after a grassroots campaign that created such hashtags as #Nashies, #BringBackNashville and #SaveNashville, CMT announced it was resurrecting the show. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

And now more good news for Nashies: during a performance by Charles Esten (aka Deacon Claybourne) at the Grand Ole Opry on Friday, Aug. 12, he announced that Season 5 of Nashville will return to the airwaves in December on CMT and Hulu. And there was much rejoicing.
